If you enjoy beeing creative togehter this might be just the right thing for you. The cyanotype classes offered here give you an insight into the world of one of the oldest photo development techniques. All ages are welcome! I will welcome you in our littel studio “Casa Nana” at the finca Mendrava Petit in the heart of Mallorca. The studio is sourrounded by orange and lemon trees. If you are lucky and come here during the flowering season, late summer or spring, the fragrance is anaesthetising. Or around easter, when the branches are bursting with fruit. But to be honest, every season here is beautiful. Our eyes will be fed by the Tramuntan mountain range panorama. A warm welcome everyone!
What is Cyanotype? Cyanotype, Blueprint or Berlin Blue is an easy-to-understand and very versatile process for creating photograms in the deep blue colour, typical for this process. I will give you a brief insight the history and process, before guiding you through the creation of your own cyanotypes. You will find a small archive of dried plants, objects or foils with various motifs of which you can choose and use. You are welcome to rummage in your own pockets for objects, let yourself be guided in the garden and look for plants you would like to print. There are endless possibilities! I will show you!
Once you found your objects we start to compose and arrange your first Cyanotype we are going to expose in sun light. In the unlikely event that the sun stays away here on Mallorca, there are UV light boxes that can be used as an alternative for exposure.
You will have plenty of time to experiment with exposure and objects to create a small pile of selfmade artworks to take home the very same day.
